Repair & Maintenance

Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Assn. has been dedicated to keeping your lights on for more than 70 years. However events beyond our control can cause an outage despite our best efforts. If you experience an outage, please follow the steps below before calling to report it.

Before you call to report an outage . . .

When the lights go out, most members immediately call Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Assn. for help. Unfortunately, sometimes the trouble is at the member’s end and isn’t the responsibility of Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Assn. In the past year, Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Assn. has spent hundreds of dollars of man hours tracing problems to members’ homes. All of this could have been saved by taking a few simple steps before reporting an outage:

  1. Check your circuit breakers or fuses.
Breakers should be in the “on” position and fuses should not be blown. some members have “main” circuit breakers at the pole or pedestal and these should also be checked.
  2. Check your own secondary wires.
In newer installations, these are generally underground wires. Your transformer and socket should be labeled “Customer-Owned secondary.” On all other installations, Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Assn.’s liability ends at the meter location, whether pole-mounted, pedestal or meter entrance. If you’ve had excavating that may have damaged the wires, you’ll need to call an electrician to repair the damage.
  3. If you can’t locate the problem. . .
Call Meeker Cooperative Light and Power Assn. at 320-693-3231 or 800-232-6257 to report an outage. Please have your Location Number ready. This saves a great deal of time. We’ll dispatch a truck to get you back in service as soon as possible.

Taking time to go through these steps could potentially save you from having to pay for a service call.
